WIN: Begin a Hickory Farms tradition of your own this Christmas.

Hickory Farms sent us a beautiful Party Planner gift box for us to try out before I gave one away to one of you this week. Of course, this led to an argument. “I just want to eat the nuts, nobody will be able to tell!” “Ooh, it’s got three types of sausage. You looooove sausage, mum.” And then the doozy: “Save the cheese! You have to put the cheese in the fridge or the cheese will DIE!”

We discussed the need for the cheese to go in the fridge for about 10 minutes. I’m not joking. Upon further investigation (and the fact that the Party Planner gift box arrived in a non-refrigerated box, which kinda implies that if the PR people are not bothering to keep it cold, then we certainly don’t have to) I was able to confirm that yes, this is a great gift for those who would like to give a hamper to someone this holiday season, but don’t want to just sent a basket with stuff in it nobody really wants, propped up by an incredibly huge amount of scrunched up paper – and it doesn’t need to be kept cold.

We enjoyed the nuts, and the cheese and sausage are exactly the right accompaniment for a glass or two of wine in the evening. The mustards are going to go well with the ham for Christmas too. I think this is just right to start off a new holiday tradition for Jed and I – get the Hickory Farms box early in the season, and eat our way to Christmas. While we’ve only been in the US for 4 years, Hickory Farms has been here for 60, and the more Christmas traditions we can accumulate, the better.

We all have someone who’s far away, and the Party Planner gift box is just one of a great variety that Hickory Farms makes very easy to give, either by buying online and having it delivered (super easy), or by visiting one of the 700 holiday stores and kiosks around the US.

The opinions expressed herein are those of the author and are not indicative of the opinions of Hickory Farms, except for the not needing to refrigerate the cheese until it’s opened statement because it really says that on the packet.

  • My favorite tradition is opening 1 gift (always pajamas) on Christmas eve before bed. I do it with my kids and they love it too 🙂

  • We prepare breakfast as a family on Christmas. This isn’t just something frozen, it’s a meal made with love and tradition.

  • My favorite tradition is watching all the “very special” Christmas episodes of everything like Spongebob and Yo Gabba Gabba and that sort of thing. Oh, and drinking too many hot buttered rums with my dad!

  • Our favorite tradition is to get a new ornament for the tree each year…the kids love it and picking out one that matches the theme for the year.

    Thanks for the chance!

  • My favourite tradition was always my dad around a Weber grilling large amounts of meat on Christmas Eve readying not just for Christmas Day but for weeks and weeks after that. He would start at 7pm and be BBQ’ing until 1 or 2am

  • I’m with Barb. Specifically, Christmas mimosas are the best. Before we had our son, especially, but, you know, moderation is cool, too.
