Nutrisystem Week 5: Slow but steady weight loss

Five weeks on the Nutrisystem program and my impatience is getting a little better. I’m remembering that I am learning new food routines, portion sizes, and better choices. They’re lessons, and they take time to stick.

The key to succeeding is just to keep  going. So I am. I’m trying to get some exercise in, beyond just walking the dog, but it’s really tough because while the days are starting to get longer, it’s only a minute or two a week – not enough to throw an additional walk in!

medium_6098836118Eight pounds was great last week. It’s a decent weight loss, and I can start seeing it in my clothing. But I know it’s nowhere near enough. I flip flop between frustration and being okay, knowing that it takes time to get this on track, and that I need to give myself and my body time to learn these new behaviors.

I’ve been hungry this week, but I’m beginning to see that I don’t need to eat a massive meal to curb the hunger, even if I’m really, really hungry, all I need is my weight loss shakes. Instead I’ve discovered that if it’s a little too early for lunch, I can just fix myself a small salad – simple stuff like just lettuce and tomatoes with some balsamic, and that will tide me over for another hour or so until I can devour my lunch.

The scales were slow this week – but I remember that last time I was on the program, that happened sometimes too. So at the end of this week, my total loss is 9 pounds. Hey, at least it’s all going in the right direction!
